specifically I want to access the web from a boat sailing the caribean.

I've been following a company (and even own shares in it) KVH Industries, they make a mobile satellite phone for mariners. I think you can use a modem over this phone to access the internet. It's pretty pricey, maybe $1 to $2 per minute, but considering what you're getting I think it's a pretty good deal. Check it out at their web site: kvh.com

Pardon my butting in but what's the point of sailing the Carribean if your going to bring the business world along with you? I'll be doing the very same thing myself in about three weeks and if anybody brings a cell phone and laptop aboard they walk the plank!

You can't have fun if you're gonna worry about money while on vacation!
