Richard,

2 points:

1. Most hot air balloons deflate themselves. No help from me was needed. Unfortunately, even with all of Tom 'Wrong Way' Kurlack's calls, he still moves money. I believe he reversed himself on Micron at least 3 times this year. It's as if he didn't understand that DRAM prices were going down! After 25 years, when will he ever learn?

2. Whether gold can protect you against inflation depends, in part, what country your money is in; what is happening to investments available to you in or from that country; and what is happening to the currency of that country. Most people in Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, ..., would have been overjoyed to own gold for the last 6 months. In local $, the return would be phenomenal. Most have no way to own US$ Government bonds, etc.

If your perspective is US $, then I fully agree with you - past, present and future.

Ian.
