I was curious about the amount of domestic cash that Apple has been generating over the last year. It turns out that Apple had a domestic cash balance of $35 billion at the end of 2011. They now have $45 billion. So they generated $9 billion in cash while buying back $2 billion in shares and about $5 billion in dividends (only 2 payments in 2012).

If they view $35 billion in cash domestically as their minimum domestic cash balance, then there isnt going to be much room to do anything without getting a bit fancy with their cash held overseas.
