What you seem to indicate did match my reading of the data. This is expressed as a proportion of GDP - the trend is that it is up at any given point in time relative to the previous decade. Yes it goes up and down, but it is and hass gone up and stayed up. That was mine.

It seemed like your point is that this is a primarily a "Republican" phenomenon or that it normally goes up and down - I'd have to disagree that it is JUST a Repub/Demo. To me - it looks like a leaning tree - yes the tree sways year to year, decade to decade, party to party, but our tree is leaning more and more on average. This is true no matter who is in the WH.

Was there another point that your were making? 'm not intentionally being fatuous.
