Windows 7, search for Power Options, then select Change Plan Settings, if plugged in all the time set them to what you like:




Windows 8, I don't have a clue.

Which version of Windows?

XP

Control Panel-->PowerOptions

I have seen setting in BIOS before, I'm not sure where that would come into play at.

Also check the screensaver settings:

Right click on blank spot on desktop-->Properties
Click on Screensaver tab
Check settings
