Jimmy,Jimmy,
Re -- I don't think the MediaGX's modem capabilities are fully functional yet

You mean the consumers are getting a partially functional chip. Call in the consumer protection agency!!

Re -- Seems a modem really slows down a computer. My Pentium 166 comes to a dead stop when the modem is connecting.

Thats why you need a PentiumII. And guess what, with a pentiumII and a software modem, and other software functions, and integrated functions on the chipset, A PentiumII can be produced CHEAPER than the DEFUNCT 486GX.

Heck I can see the writing on the wall , MEDIAGX = 486GX R.I.P

Mine is totally uneffected, can still multi-task even with video applications. If you have a software modem (what USRX/3Com calls a "Winmodem"), try getting a REAL (hardware) modem.
