That is very funny. At first I thought that they going the more edgy Mary Magdalene/ Jesus route (I dare not share these jokes in most circumstances) but the cartoon took the less controversial (but not by much) Mary and Joseph route with equal verve.

The thing about all religions is that they take themselves so seriously. No mocking. I thought South Park was too far above all this stuff and then there was that incident where the actor who plays Chef (Issac Hayes) went ballistic, leaving the show simply because they lampooned Scientology just as they had abortions and Mormonism.

I guess it is when one's own sacred cows are slaughtered it stopped being funny. For me an idea isn't worth much if it can't withstand a little prodding and emerge unscathed. This is like the "Prophet" issue. I get it - you love your religion. I suppose it is like having a kid with a big nose - how much ribbing can one take about it? But at the end of the day they still have a big nose that is obvious to everyone they meet.
