>> It's "If we don't invest it now...", as in "we need to stop spending money on fancy jet planes, and start investing money in roads, bridges, sewage plants, levees, solar panels, windmills, etc, etc." Otherwise we will spend money cleaning up collapsed bridges, and then invest money in bridges.

Fine. Take the billions of taxpayer dollars being GIVEN to the unemployed in the form of unemployment compensation (free money), food stamps, and free health care and tell these people, "We'll give you all this crap. You just need to show up and work for it."

Barack Obama started spewing taxpayer dollars a month after taking office. It was all about "infrastructure" -- a trillion dollars WASTED. He had his chance.

You put some of these people to work building infrastructure -- like FDR did -- and I won't bitch a word. But quit giving them money, easily one of the top few stupid policies our government has pursued for the last decade. Giving people money fosters no work ethic, creates a society that demands handouts instead of opportunity, and generally leads to what we have now -- people who would rather cheat and get disability than actually have a job.

If the left likes infrastructure, why are they against the Keystone XL pipeline ... that's infrastructure that doesn't cost the taxpayers a dime.

Liberals don't like dams like they did more than a half century ago. Now they want to tear them down and are doing so.

They don't really like roads because they enable people to drive more miles and use more gasoline. Instead they favor 'commuter rail' that is inflexible, impractical, and that few will ever use.

They don't like pipelines - infrastructure the oil and gas industry creates for us.

The only infrastructure they pretend to support are high speed rail lines that no one will ever ride.
