Re: The Linde Group (LNEGY)

What attracted me to Linde was their engineering division.
goo.gl

From my limited research the other gas companies mentioned do not design and/or build these facilities. My previous play in this sector (engineering NG facilities) was CBI. FLR was also another candidate. When I looked at all the engineering contracts that LNEGY received I was quite impressed. Several of those contracts were located in Asia and China too.

The other thing that caught my attention and maybe typical of the way these deals are done is the ongoing maintenance and upgrade of the completed facilities. So once they finish the facility, they seem to migrate into ongoing service contracts. Usually CBI and/or FLR move on to other projects.

Perhaps that is the reason for the premium price. As you and Clownbuck mentioned, their other "milk-run" business delivering gasses is a good cash flow generator. Linde just acquired a healthcare business in the U.S. servicing hospitals w/ various gasses.

Airgas, Inc. (ARG) - in talks to be acquired

Bloomberg: Air Liquide in talks to acquire Airgas

Airgas (ARG +6.4%) spikes higher after Bloomberg reports that Air Liquide (OTCPK:AIQUF) is in talks to acquire the company, with a possible deal announcement as soon as this week. A combination would make Air Liquide the world’s biggest supplier of industrial gases and give it a dominant position in the U.S.
