>> Could you live on $4.50 per day for food, as food stamp recipients are.

So we're supposed to pay for ALL their food? Since when?

I thought food stamps were to be a helping hand, not 3 square meals a day.

My dad, who was a 12-year old orphan during the Depression, once said to me, "What the hell's the matter with you? You think you need to eat every day?"

When you're buying food, even if only part of it, for 1/6 of the population, you may just be past the tipping point.

I eat for less than 4.50 a day, what's the big deal ? coffee, toast and 2 eggs for breakfast, what's that 30 cents (i get 18 eggs for 1.99), ramada soup for lunch 15-20 cents, that' leaves 4 bucks for dinner. Chicken breast, bake potato and some vegies. leaves me 2 bucks for lottery tickets
