Kate was someone who needed to belong to a team with all the rah-rah and no one ever questioning how right the team was. Problem was, she couldn't decided which political side to support unconditionally. Left her in an ideological pretzel position. I suspect she fell back on the Mormonism and just dumped politics.

Her arguments were very well thought out and she argued them well. I miss her thinking as it was always fresh an done so with the utmost of respect - AND she and I disagreed mightily on some issues. But I do agree with you that this thread has continually moved to the left and those who are in the center or who do not fit well in the left (or right for that matter) are marginalized and sometimes viciously and often wrongly attacked.
