Timing wise that could line up with the new BOJ gov coming on board. Lots of things seem to be coming to a head here...

There's a two page advertising spread in today's Seattle Times advertising BUY BUY BUY for your scrap gold and jewelry. These advertisements had pared back somewhat in the past year plus, but they are picking up steam again. Trying to get it while the gettin' is good.

"Yra said it well... folks excited about making money in the general markets will sell whatever gold they have to buy SPX or whatever.

That implies that the SPX top will be the capitulation end of gold's long consolidation/decline."
.

To your point, the chart below.

It's been "all-one-market" for so long that I never would have believed printing could drive up one sector of the market, yet leave others behind.

Gold bugs may want to avert their eyes, but they should look anyway. I am making no comment on the reasons, just on the technicals. S&P 500 in relation to gold continues to break upward. There is however, some resistance at the current level. If the ratio gets through there the target objective is noted.

Hi, gold$10k what's your point of view on Richard Russell's pennant remark ?
Right now they are trying very hard to break $1642.0 , then maybe they are counting on triggering stop losses.
What are next support areas ? $1624 or $1600 ????
Looking at chart of Spot from last summer ,. looks like we are testing 1642 (by the way its 1641 and change right now ) for the 3rd or fourth time.
