"is Medicare something that the government has promised and has been taking money out of our paychecks for?" They still are; they take out about $125 from my social security checks every month. These are voluntary, tho... for Parts B and D. "the government damn well better follow through on their promise." Then you had damn well better turn 66 and get sick. You know... ask what you can do for your government.
