>> There have been cases where legislation has been passed with a rider in it that eliminates the estate tax on a particular individual.

While it is true that Democrat Speaker-to-be Jim Wright ATTEMPTED to get such a provision in TRA86, it did not make the final cut (due to Republican opposition and outrage) and therefore, did not become law. We would never have known it happened were it not for CCH and others reporting it as part of the weekly update service.

I'm not aware of such a provision ever being inserted by anyone else.

>> Now, that person isn't named, but it set a series of conditions so that it only applies to a single individual. This one was pretty common during the Reagan administration

It was never common. That specific provision related to "any person dying in Tarrant County Texas" on a particular date.

This is something so egregious that only a Democrat could have dreamed it up.

Yes, the Democrats controlled the House throughout the Reagan administration. But CJ is too partisan to call attention to that.

The tax code is a system of giving money to the government, not gathering assets. Legally filing one's taxes is not "gaming the system so you gather even more assets at the expense of your fellow citizens". Individuals have an obligation to file accurate, legal returns that reflect all income and deductions. Taking a legal deduction and paying the legal tax rate is not gaming the system.

So I'm still looking for a real example of the gaming of the system by all those unfair people you talk about.

Also, what was all this campaign rhetoric about "not playing by the rules?" What rules? Who makes them? Who plays by them? And why should I care?
