The next question then becomes what do we do with our spare time. What do sentient being in outer space do? We cannot use the time to destroy the planet with conspicuous consumption like riding dun buggies on pristine sand dunes, or polluting the world.

We must use the extra time for positiive behaviors like protecting the planet and developing the mind.

Not just destructive hedonism. Non destructive hedonism is fine.

We need to lesson the work week (with the same pay) and obtain full employment or the equivelant.

That would be the arc of civilization

A progression in the human condition that has been occurring for centuries

And would cement the American experiment as truly historic if we could allow such benefits to accrue to ordinary citizens

Somehow our system has fallen into the hands of a greedy minority which has found ways to divert the benefits of economic and technological advances into wealth for a few

...the political action arm of which is the GOP

I think the government needs to wake up and realize that it's missing the funding boat by not monetizing the robots, software and cheap foreign workers that are taking people's jobs. The simplest answer for this would be, if a corporation is going to close an operation and replace it's workers, they need to replace the taxes those workers paid, including SS and Medicare.

That would keep a lot of jobs HERE, un-roboticized.
