(ot) Mine were not fancy ..... they were very colorful "fighter" kites, made of very fine bamboo and the best kind of English colored tissue paper. I don't see that around any more, nor do I see such kites. One spool of real tough thread would extend to 1760 yards. So you can imagine how far two spools would go --- of course, you had to have a lot of faith in that knot, with some expertise --- when you dove down to attack another kite far away. :)
