Here's a great story:

Springsteen writes this song, and tries to get Elvis to record it, but Elvis dies before the demo package arrives.
So Bruce recorded it, was supposed to be on Darkness on the Edge of Town Album, but he scraps it.
Turns out the Pointer Sisters cut it, in January 1979 and it reaches #2 on the charts.
Up to this point, Springsteen hadn't even cracked the top 20, and he finally reaches #5 with Hungry Heart in 1980.
