Sandy's strength and angle of approach combined to produce a record storm surge of water into New York City. The surge level at Battery Park topped 13.88 feet at 9:24 p.m. Monday, surpassing the 10.02 feet record water level set by Hurricane Donna in 1960.

Damn!! Good the storm didn't hit at high tide, and that there wasn't a full moon, thereby increasing tidal surge..

Oh wait.. there was..

usatoday.com

But, of course, it's due to many humans staring at the moon, lustfully luring it in closer, right?

Or maybe it's the gravitational pull of all the fast food gulping obese people in the NE US??

Maybe he doesn't know what he's talking about. Maybe he's looking at the wrong metrics. Maybe both. Maybe he thinks hurricanes only happen at US landfall, and if they hit China or the Philippines or the Mexico's Pacific Coast, or nothibng but fish, they don;t exist. Maybe all 3. The only question is "HTF does he get idiots to fall for his shit?"
Maybe the IPCC is into something:

There is low confidence in any observed long-term (i.e., 40 years or more) increases in tropical cyclone activity (i.e., intensity, frequency, duration), after accounting for past changes in observing capabilities. It is likely that there has been a poleward shift in the main Northern and Southern Hemisphere extratropical storm tracks. There is low confidence in observed trends in small spatial-scale phenomena such as tornadoes and hail because of data inhomogeneities and inadequacies in monitoring systems. [3.3.2, 3.3.3, 3.4.4, 3.4.5]

Key messages of SREX are as follows:

2. Evidence suggests that climate change has changed the magnitude and frequency of some extreme weather and climate events (‘climate extremes’) in some regions already.
Here is another key message from SREX

There is limited to medium evidence available to assess climate-driven observed changes in the magnitude and frequency of floods at regional scales because the available instrumental records of floods at gauge stations are limited in space and time, and because of confounding effects of changes in land use and engineering. Furthermore, there is low agreement in this evidence, and thus overall low confidence at the global scale regarding even the sign of these changes. [3.5.2]
