Petz , the drop in exchange rates for Malaysia , Thailand and Singapore will give lower labour costs for the 5,400 AMD workers
in those countries . That should be a plus for Q4 ,

Too many P2-233 and P2-266 chips flooding the market?

Intel's making too many of these chips as can be seen by looking at Pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) and Thechipmerchant (http://www.thechipmerchant.com).
At thechipmerchant, P2-233's in single quantity are $7 BELOW wholesale price. Pentium II-266's are also BELOW wholesale price. Who would want these overpriced, power-hungry beasts? On "Pricewatch" there are 8 other vendors selling the P2-233 BELOW wholesale and 9 vendors selling the P2-266 BELOW wholesale price. (As much as $27 below wholesale price!)

Meanwhile on biz.yahoo.com, Intel says that they're only selling 25% Pentium II's right now, but that this will double in the next 7 months. Don't think so, Andy. A few percent of that 25% has never experienced 70 degC in a Pentium II box, and won't anytime soon.

As for the K6-233, I called the outfit with the $230 price on "Pricewatch", and they charge $8 for shipping. Still a good deal to get a K6-233 at only $13 above wholesale price. He said they buy their processors directly from AMD in quantities > 1000 and they are the latest 'C' stepping, so any idea that these were dumped from a Tier 1 is false. thechipmerchant.com is at $255 vs. the $225 wholesale price.
