You say that opposing background checks is mindless partisanship. I'm not sure where you get that; in the first place, we already have background checks. The problem is with the proposed idea that you can, somehow, require transactions between private parties to involve background checks. It is utterly stupid for Congress to believe it can do that.

You stick a few folks in jail and throw away the key and you'll see how many fewer try it. C'mon man...we weren't born yesterday. The NRA was in favor of this...but they are bought and paid for by the gun industry...

Do you think two kids exchanging weapons for drugs on the street are going to give a shit about background checks? Yet, Congress and Obama will have said, "Great. We got something done that will reduce violence".

If one fewer murder, one less innocent bystander...it's worth it....and it'll be more than that...

What's the problem with it? Why oppose it? Don't tell me it leads to a registry..that is BULLSHIT FEAR MONGERING...it's exactly what the NRA wants you to think.
