Police are hardly invisible -- if they commit murder they are far mor likely to be seen in the act and to have it recorded on video. Nobody in a position of authority should easily abuse it. On the other hand, imagine a world where nobody was willing to be the sheriff -- that alternative gives you Mogadishu -- and it would be hell on earth.
