Jurgis,

your evaluation of a couple that I own as interesting/expensive kindof fits my appraisal of them right now also - both CMI and NEU, but I've tried to learn to be more forgiving of valuations on holdings as they run up past where I would've bought them at. JOY is one of my more recent purchases and as a cyclical it worries me and I put it kindof in my "borderline" category also - but I pulled the trigger as I lean more toward the view of a long slow global economic expansion. I agree on your classification though.

My most recent purchase was YZC based on both dividend and valuation (I agree with cheap), but I am very conflicted with it due to it being Chinese company. I'm conflicted because I want China to do well, and I think it'd be a good thing globally if China does well, but at the same time I keep hearing things like the recent report about government sponsored corporate hacking and learning they seem to be seeking out ways to cripple our economy (gas lines, power grid, etc) and infiltrate corporate networks - I just don't want to support that in any way. Not sure the best way to balance the two concerns. I understand the U.S. sponsors cyber activity also - especially related to WMD so I realize it's another form of spying, but I am concerned about things like I'm reading from China blowing up into a bigger deal than this stuff would need to be if issues can't be worked out.
