That nonsense, so prevalent, is a barrier to popular understanding of the vexing dilemmas at hand.

Individual enterprises can be successfully managed. In a free world those successful at improving other's conditions run and those that can't fail, redeploy their remaining capitol.

What's generally known as the economy is the sum of those efforts and is not subject to management by central authority. It requires a dependable money, the discovery and refinement of ways to improve infrastructure, and sane and humble regulation of externalities. We once had something crudely approaching that ideal and did astonishingly well.

Now it's gone and the predictable rot continues to envelop.

Perhaps, Mr. Obama should read less Lincoln

No, better he should read those parts where Lincoln gave unequivocal support to free market principles, utterly the opposite of what Obama stands for.
