<<<<< Libertarian dogma is the root problem (eg misunderstanding of the debt issue) >>>>>

My gawd, what misunderstanding is there of the debt issue? We are debt levels not seen since the very height of WWII and have not a whimsical chance of making inroads into that debt because of issues such as demographics. Sticking our heads into the sand and pretending debt is meaningless is obscene! Without some inroads on the escalation of debt we place those things you and others on the left hold dear; particularly SS and Medicare. Listen to Simpson/Bowles as there is likely few who have a better understanding of this issue than they do.

Yes, the Tea Party is an annoying participant, but they only get their voice because they win elections in districts they represent. They are as annoying as those on the far left such as Krugman who bring NOTHING in the way of a solution. I don't share the Tea Party's position on small government - I do share their belief that if we don't get our fiscal house in order we are in trouble. If we get in trouble, small government will be forced on us and I don't want that any more than you do. Increasingly - in case you haven't noticed - more and more are believing the debt issue is real.

Have you noticed how Libertarians rarely leave modern government-infused society behind and go out and live in the boonies to be true to their "don't touch me I don't need you" principles? Probably some tiny fraction of Libertarians walk the walk.
