Scrapps, booting from Zip depends on what BIOS your system is running. Some Dells and Microns can boot from Zip now. You'll have to check with your mfgr.

Also, you'll want to take a look at Symantec's "Norton Zip Rescue" which allows you to use a Zip as an emergency boot disk.

(...and of course, on any Mac one simple click on the appropriate drive icon in the 'Startup' control panel gets you going. Yet another 'clicking through life with the greatest of ease' idea from your good pals at Apple. No BIOS, IRQ, I/O babble.)
