"The Gospels aren't versions"

Of course, the gospel stories have myriad versions after all the editing and editorializing. Don't be silly.

The secret gospel of mark fills in some edited parts of Mark and reveals why it was so important to editorialize. Christians never did feel comfortable with the naked young man in Mark having no explanation and appearing to have been chopped off (as he was) by a scribe.

Yes, I agree that Paul's letters would be the oldest of the writings in the NT.

I believe he's the closest thing to a contemporary of Jesus that is found in the NT.

But even Paul doesn't seem to give the resurrection the "emphasis" that one would expect considering its importance.

Mark's writings seem to have been done around 70AD. The other Gospels seem to have been written 200 to 300 years later.

The main thing is that ALL religions are based on "faith". There is really no factual basis that can be "proven" to exist in any of them.

The precepts of Christianity are wonderful. If everyone followed them it would be a great world, but the Quakers are the only ones that seemed to really follow them and I don't see them doing all that well in recruiting.
