We are in crises and yes of course it is in our power to avoid but just because we have the ability to avoid it doesn't mean it isn't a crises. It surely is! The issue in a few months is just a continuation of the increasingly difficulty in coming to an agreement. The crises that Krugman seems to not be able to get is that we can't pay our bills and no solution that is politically acceptable has been proposed. Krugman can hope for all his might that republicans will role over and see the light - I think he needs to come to washington where pot is legal and get a different look at the world.
