No question, the Airplane became part of the hippie movement.

Just saw Marty Balin with his band Sunday night along with Country Joe and "Big Brother and the Holding Company" plus a long set by David Crosby's new edgy band. Balin still plays the Airplane songs. Guess the lawyers took away the "Airplane" and "Starship" name though, this is a different era. Only Pete Sears looked like a hippie and not someone you would see in a Suburban Retirement Community wearing cargo shorts and a fisherman's hat. :-)

The Balin Band did an edgy, funky "Plastic Fantastic Lover" it was verycool. Joe did the Fish Cheer, as usual. Everyone attending the benefit concert sang "Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" with Joe, a vet BTW.

The best of the hippie movement movement will always live on.
