So say the Detroit Free News, ABC, NBC, PBS, Associated Press and others. But not so fast. Just a few miles from the site of Trayvon’s demise, a mob of 12 black people recently was arrested for assaulting Ashley Flournoy, who was six months pregnant. No matter what happens to the rest of Sanford, Flournoy and her child are expected to recover. Some call it a family feud – and that Flournoy was the aggressor: “The pregnant woman went and hit my cousin-in-law’s daughter, a juvenile, and them two were fighting,” said Harry Roberts to WESH TV news. “They’re telling us aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and we never touched that girl.” Flournoy and her friends attacked him and threw rocks at his car, said Roberts, one of those arrested. A public defender for another man said there was no proof that his client knew Flournoy was going to have a baby in three months. The neighbors tell a different story, involving guns, breaking glass, and a group of men and women beating Flournoy as she lie on the ground. “And last night to see men and women jumping on a pregnant lady, it’s just out of control, and it’s always something over there,” one neighbor told Bay News Channel 9. Another reported gun shots. Still others said Flournoy told her attackers she was with child, but they said they did not care, said the sheriff’s report. The crime scene was littered with hair weaves and extensions pulled off in the altercation. In the end, police arrested the 12, including a mother and her two children, as well as a brother and sister, ranging in age from 12 to 42. They were charged with aggravated battery where the offender knew or should have known the victim was pregnant. The mob violence in Sanford is just one example of the black mob violence documented on more than 450 occasions across the country since 2010 in the book “White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence and how the media ignore it.” The father of two of the juveniles arrested, Willie Jones, Sr., wearing a shirt from the Boys Club, said he would wait for all the facts to come out at trial but he did not believe his 12- and 14-year old sons were capable of such a crime.
