Investors will often short the common, and use their private placement shares / warrants / options, to cover. It allows for much less risk. So if they shorted the stock in the 50 and 60s, then they cover with placement shares at .75 . The 1 1/4 warrant at a dollar then only cost .15 or slightly more each.
I am not saying I have knowledge of this, and in this case it may not make sense because of the premium on the share price. But I could probably be talked into some dollar warrants for .15 each.
