Hypothetical - a source of nearly unlimited power is found that can't easily be weaponized, monopolized or be subject to profiteers or those who would hijack your national political agenda. What do you do with it? You label it as quasi-lefty-wacko-ism and mock those who would have us switch away from fossil fuels and avoid pipelines through sensitive environments and/or eschew establishing/maintaining alliances with with sketchy tribal chieftains.

We are one of the best places on Earth to produce solar energy. We have vast, constantly sunny, mostly useless deserts. Not to use what they have, intense sun, is criminal.

I've also seen articles that say Germany has to import electric power from abroad now because of its green rules.
