That definition just as aptly describes the gambit of religion , the human descent into superstition, the cohersion of belief in demons & the mass hysterias of pretended supernatural forces engendered thru the dark centuries. This itself is a form of nothingness & obeying a path of perpetuated ignorance which is a darkness enforced by such dogmas leading to a blind collectivism under huge dominant unquestioned central authorities. The structure of religion itself is very problematic in its resemblance to the rise of other similar belief systems that have ensnared human popualtions & other modern mass hysterias.

The Agnostic, the Atheist or the Pagan or theist that embraces the world, in so doing freely embraces all, as it is , as it really is not as its believed to be in some dark age place. If God so loved the world then it simply stands to reason why not we, which in any case Science moves on to fathom more and as your own example chemist James Tour responded
