Given the fact that he's not really all that much of a Keynesian, I'm not sure he wanted to, but he wasn't going to pass anything like that even if he did. -Raise taxes to even more than Clinton levels to make up for the shortfalls from the last several decades. That wasn't going to happen. -Cut basically trillions in benefits, including those paid for by dedicated taxes (which he unfortunately has put on the table), at a time when our needs are the greatest. Only the third would be something the Republicans >Same old tired excuses. "It's not Obama's mess." Yes it is. Nope. It's not even that much of a mess. At least the deficit isn't. Unemployment is, but he didn't cause that and there are no politically tenable solutions to that on the table right now. I mean, yeah, Obama is currently one of three parties with responsibility for fixing this, but one of the three (the House) doesn't want to fix it, the second (the Senate) is too deadlocked, and the President ultimately can't do much without both. As he says, he is NOT a dictator. Which is why it's so fucked up that you guys accuse him of being one. Black is white, up is down. -Z
