The people you selected were their ideas. Big ideas, right or wrong. That set them apart.

Most people simply reflect old ideas. They live according to a script and can be predicted by that script.

<<I can't speak for you, but I've talked about those people in terms of the kind of people they were. That's the whole point of reading biographies, after all- it's not just about the ideas. The people who had the ideas are also interesting, and worth talking about.

I think Eleanor Roosevelt was talking about people who read the National Enquirer or Readers Digest and watch dancing with the stars, with those who watch PBS and tackle social injustice and environmental health and sanctitiy.
