Repeat: all [] bracketed comments within the quoted material are mine; and are believed accurate. The introduction of Bill Barth is interesting. Barth and Wolcott are long-time business acquaintances. And, Barth’s experience is “right on” regarding BSD M’s needs: “Well, thanks for that nice introduction Butch, I appreciate it. Some may have been wondering why I joined the BSD Medical. Just briefly throughout my career I have been involved, as Butch said in the medical device industry with both privately and publicly health companies as CFO. And the majority of those entities I worked with were primarily emerging companies they developed and marketed innovative products to advance the quality and effectiveness of the healthcare industry. I worked on and completed numerous financial transactions including public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions as well as debt financing. I have followed BSD Medical for a long time but began following up much more closely when Butch became CEO in 2009 and having worked closely with Butch, knowing his professional capabilities, his work ethic, integrity and successes, I knew he'd bring the perspective and extensive experience and discipline needed to BSD Medical and the medical device [skills]. I found it to be a very compelling story with excellent potential and particularly when the company introduced its state-of-the-art disposable SynchroWave antennas. And because of the nature of the product and up to three to -- disposables can be used during a single procedure utilizing a single generator have the potential to provide the company with a significant ongoing revenue stream, as the installed base of our ablation systems expands worldwide. So that is a brief background on me and why I decided to join the company.” While he is correct in emphasizing the “SynchroWave” antennas fed by a “single generator”, he does not do justice to the importance of what is provided by the scheme. High temperatures have long been recognized as lethal to tumors (and now, at least, proven to not have any inherent serious side effects such as plague both radiotherapy and chemotherapy). But, heating just the tumors (and some margin around the tumor) requires tight focus and control of the heating. Without doubt, multiple synchronized waves (means fixed phases between the waves) are the best approach – essentially, the only approach -- that can provide the precise heating patterns demanded. BSD Medical is, by far, the acknowledged world leader in this technology. And, Barth evidently sees the technology as finally arriving! Given the successful development of practical synchronized-wave microwave (best frequency range; far better than the older radiofrequency heating) cancer therapy by precision heating is a major breakthrough in cancer therapy (highly effective and, at least relative to the established cancer therapies, without serious side effects.
