Ditto to that Berry... It has more value than anything in the long run. Each means of exchange is driven by the suppy/demand for the item as its preceived value at that exact point in time. Food has more value than gold if you don't have any food. We all want what fullfills our wants and needs per the times as it where. Gold is universally rare in all the world and thus has always demonstrated a great means of exchange that has stood the test of time. Plus... it can be broken down into smaller portions making it better than say diamonds. Bottom line gold always works... paper money has had its problems. But ... what you say reminds me of the old story that sort of say it all.. 3 people are stranded in a row boat in the middle of the Ocean. One has 5 gold bars.. the other 50,000 shares of Intel and the other a Ham sandwich. After 3 days... what you think that sandwich is worth:-) Or should I say "It's preceived value at that point in time " PS... If the world does go to heck in the next years leading to the mellenium as so many are looking for it will be an interesting senerio that should unfold. Like the 3 in the row boat those with the food and the water are going to be the ones that call the shots. We in the US are the bread basket of the world. Have bubu water and enough resoucres to be pretty self sufficient. We don't export any food or water and we'll see just how long the people who hate us so can eat sand and drink oil .
