I think they've taken the hedonic pricing idea and are adjusting employment numbers in the same way.... since products are SO MUCH BETTER now you don't need what used to be called "a job" to have the same standard of living. There 's a "standard of living" app you only need 10K a year to afford which allows virtual standard of living to be more like 30K. Just being alive, talking, and walking in todays world is worth 10X what it was 100 years ago with all the fun gadgets and distractions available. DAK
