You in public office are fundamentally dishonest people I live in the state that keeps Patty Murray in office. That her kind is allowed to vote, let alone hold office, is indicative of what's happened to our republic. It seems unlikely she's she's consciously evil; rather a silly boob that stumbled into a position of power, learned to play a worse that superfluous game, and continues to metastasize. There's something at work more complex than merely low info voters, though there is that. We've come so far so fast and the institutions most rely on have failed in explaining the mechanics of creating a prosperous and civil society. Life is good. Smart people, themselves comfortable, accept the idea that ad hoc interventions in a successful process can improve conditions for those less fortunate. There is no recognition they're cheering repetition of programs with a sorry history. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
