Most large spreads are to discourage buying. I.E. buying something at Nine cents when you can only sell it at 7 cents. Soon as you buy you are at a lost. Now you have to wait two cents to get even and maybe a cent to minus your commision charge.

Ricky,

The lower bid means someone(MM) wants to buy shares cheap. The higher
ask IMO is trying to keep buyers away. The MM is hoping people will
see the % loss right away if they buy and stay away. If you were to
buy right now at .0825 and then sell right away at .065, you would
lose about 21%.

This is just my opinion.
