In the case of scientist with mathematics they can model many things that would be impossible to imagine along with certain observations that add verification like the background radiation/big bang theory or the red shifting that makes us realize the expansion taking place of distant stars,novas & galaxies. Beyond the interest of science religion & philosophy the idea of a "creation" is really more of a moot point far too distant to make even the slightest relevance to our reality of living on this planet now. The history of the human race for just the last 10,000 yrs, rise of Indus, Harrappan or Mesopotamian cultures are far more important for our understanding than whether there was a big bang or this God snapped his fingers or not. The innumerable arts & skills of plants & farming , animal husbandry, weaving, pottery, water/irrigation, record keeping & writing, storage,trade & transportation and mining & metal working etc , this is what is important. Watching Face The Nation right now discussing the CC Pope elections, one journalist waxing emotional sayng the Catholic Church is old & been around a long time, no they haven't , 1500yrs is not a *long time.* Supposedly they are involved with negotiating this eternal world of Spirit that transcends creation but i do not see anything but a continuum of all human experience combined, this is the proper way to look at things and they know it too. Some people are just as inspired that are not believers, they're not atheists either , they just don't care.
