That was an interesting post..

re: 1,2 and 3.. US imperialism (really not trying to be inflammatory here) is different than Russian.. more subtle actually ,.. closer to the terribly effective British model.. but much better.. Huge long term troop commitments and occupation (They learned a lot in Vietnam) are not the best.. for the opinion at home and for results (see Russians in Afghanistan) ... Control vs domination... much easier to defend and spin.. America is nothing if not the consummate innovator.. They even reinvented colonialism ... no need to set up shop as 'actual' administrators.. like the Brits did.. :O)

I'd like to read a good book that discusses and explains why, in the United States... Cannot agree MORE !!! Always found that vexing... Terribly so... What the hell happened to 'Good News for Modern Man ' ?? I recently saw a show in History recounting the Abraham/Issac affair ... Different than 'Islam' ? I think not..

A good take on resurgent US and new peace dividend.. I will add that US policy has made it easier in that they have little need to 'extricate' themselves form foreign lands.. watch.bnn.ca

the global economy will expand at a faster rate this decade than in any of the previous three.

What is changing with exhilarating speed is the source of that growth. Many of the world's biggest emerging markets have finally emerged and are now powering global expansion. In 2011, Brazil, Russia, India and China (the original Bric countries) created the equivalent of a new Italy in terms of economic output.

"China creates a Greece in 12.5 weeks. Since 2010 China has created an India," he says in an interview at the Ambrosetti finance forum.
