I think that's maybe a combination of things

1) The economy isn't that great
2) It hasn't been that great since 2008 (5 years) so there's duration / time erosion
3) The future growth prospects aren't looking great (at least near future)
4) Uncertainty with Obama care and the costs associated
5) The internet is taking a greater % of retail and service business sales. People are looking local and then buying on the net. I'm guilty of that but on a local level we're all cutting our own throat.

Those are just a few reasons off the top of my head - I'm sure there are many more.
