I do, too. Far better to have a nurse practitioner than no one at all, which may be what Medicare/Medicaid patients would otherwise be facing down the road.

The vast majority of the time I go to the doctor it is to get my blood checked and prescriptions updated -- about every six months. I would be perfectly satisfied with seeing a NP for this I think. But if I'm going in with a complaint about pretty much anything I think seeing a physician makes sense; I wouldn't be going in if something wasn't really bothering me.

Perhaps I'm moderating a bit; a couple years ago, I think I had the attitude that nothing less than an M.D. would do ;)
