You make a convincing argument and one that is consistent with Libertarian principles.

For me, the dividing line is whether the public is sufficiently informed. I don't think it is at this point in time. It seems to me there is a pretty huge gap between the qualifications of the two different kinds of providers, but that gap may not one the public is aware of at this time. Perhaps over time that will change.

One could say, "Hey, the public needs to learn to read the sign out front" and I get that. I'm just not sure the country's ready for self-directed NPs at this time. I guess we'd better get ready.
