Ted, last week wasn't the first time Obama tried to use his personal charm on Republicans. I don't know the details of what went on in this latest attempt.

It does seem to me, however, that the Obama administration is sensitive to the criticism that they are in permanent campaign mode. All those public rallies to try and put pressure on Republicans really fizzled out, IMO. Even though the Republicans are on the defensive, I don't see much of a public outcry over their obstructionism.

Mostly the public is just seeing Washington gridlock as business as usual.

I don't think that's as true as it once was............although I have to admit its sometimes hard to know what Americans are thinking. The popularity of the GOP brand has been greatly diminished over the last 6 years. I think that's a serious trend the GOP can't afford to ignore.

Some of us see it as highly desirable. Any day you can prevent Obama and Reid from getting anything done is a good day, IMO.

Next best thing to just vacating the White House and Capitol altogether.
