I think many of the environmental concerns are ligit . Air quality is a damn good example , food , toxins are areas that we need to understand more than we do now .
A simple example is Rubber cement - it is now banned for use in public buildings for a reason , hundreds of teachers died from blood cancer and the cause was rubber cement . No doubt lots of folks would love to use the same stuff today , along with lead based paint and leaded gas , the Japaneze would like to wipe every last whale off the oceans and use the meat for cat and dog food . It is the environmentalists who have dragged government and industry kicking and screaming to the table to create some regulations to protect the environment and things in it .
I was forced to retire because of some idiot not following those safety regulations . You know the ones that say " do not put heavy metals in the furnace "
Talk to some guy injured at work - usually it is because some safety issue .

" What is wrong with asbestos ? we have been using it for years ..........

We need regulations and they need to be followed and some crap should never make it past the drawing board - depleted uranium and steel and tools made from the crap is a damn good example .
