Bremer made the recommendations to DC on how to handle the occupation... I'm sure he likely conferred with Cheney and Bush, but the military analysts on the ground were recommending something totally different. The decision to invade was made by the US Congress with the authorization to use force.. Bush just exercised that authority when Saddam failed to comply with the UN binding resolutions.. What you are saying is the US had the intention of occupying Iraq. Bremer's plan was authorized by Cheney and Bush despite opposition. US Congress authorized use of force based lies. Bush exercised that authority not only to kill hundreds of thousands Iraqis but also to sacrifice tens of thousands of American lives. Not to mention the destruction of Iraq and the trillions of dollars wasted, despite UN objection. Right? As for marketplaces (Suq), you don't find many of them sitting in the middle of nowhere.. They are usually in the center of a populated neighborhood.. Maybe you need to get over there and check it out for yourself.. that is exactly the point, avoid the populated areas and the number of casualties drops. There ya go again.. shooting off your mouth about things you have no understanding of.. The area I grew up in has been hit extremely hard and the only thing that has saved us is being an agricultural community.. The average wage there isn't much more than $10-20/hour if you're not competing against Illegal Aliens for a job.. I am pleased you have contact with the outside world. I hope you do realize that the economic hardship is being felt throughout the world. 50% of Spanish young adults are unemployed. It should not be a surprise that Iran is feeling it too with the sanctions and all. I have several VERY close relatives who are effectively destitute.. long-term unemployed.. etc.. We've been doing our best to help them out in every way we can.. So don't presume that you know me, or my family.. So you have first hand experience, and you should be helping not only your relatives but also your neighbors. That is the American way. BTW, how did your family get into the conversation? Either you misunderstood or another Hawk bullshit. Actually, a hell of a lot of say how so, when the appointment of the leadership is decided in Washington? How many US troops are in Iraq right now? Officially or unofficially? How many imperialists invade a country and then withdraw of their own volition? Are you that naive? And they held the FIRST elections of any credibility ever seen in Iraq. Do you see Sunnis in charge there? Or majority Shi'a? Oh yes, we gave the people the illusion of an election and fuzzy feeling of voting. As for the Shi'a, another miscalculation on our part. Now the Syrians are paying the price. You seem smart to figure that one out, unless you are pretending, then I will fill you in. As for the Afghans, now they have Karzai trying to claim that the US and the Taliban are colluding against his government.. hmmmm.. LOL, did someone take a zero off of his paycheck? Carlin's a funny, and intelligent, man.. But he was often a bit detached from reality.. Because nothing of what that sentence contains seems to pertain to criminal behavior.. Innocent people get mugged, and/or killed, just minding their own business all the time.. That wouldn't happen if what he said was true.. And 7 innocent foreign construction workers, building a road in Nigeria, shouldn't be dead at the hands of Islamic Militants if what he said were true.. After all, they were building something the country needed, not "fucking" with them... It is always tragic when innocent people get killed and the people responsible should be punished for their crimes and I would start with Bush, Cheney and their gang, to set the example. But when it comes to "fucking" with someone, I still refer to what the HAMAS MP stated about conquering the entire world... Are you scared of Hamas? ROFLOL with what pray say, with their home made rockets? LOL thank you for the laughs. I personally be scared of the bankers on wall street destroying our economy, AIPAC dragging us into another useless war, the Chinese taking over our industries or what is left of them. I worry about how my neighbors and I and the whole country are going to survive another economic downturn created by the bankers with the blessings of our so called democratically elected politicians. Hawk, you got your priorities wrong. But then again, when one's priority is for Geezez to come, one will start making shit up.
