The only pope ever to take the name; too iconic in many minds, like a retired number for a sports legend taken by another player who joins the same team later. Popes take a name to indicate the character of their upcoming reign. "Pius" means he'll be a strict orthodox ruler. Francis seems to mean humble, mystical as opposed to concerned with worldly matters, although I don't see how this pope can not be. Francis of Assisi repudiated the riches his family owned and refused to be anything but a working, roaming beggar, preaching the Gospel. But, you won't see the riches divested of by the Vatican, that's for sure.
