While Wal-Mart experienced February sales that were considered, “total disaster,” Costco’s earnings for the second quarter of the year climbed 39%. The New York Times reported, “Costco Wholesale’s net income for its second quarter climbed 39 percent as it pulled in more money from membership fees, sales improved and it recorded a large tax benefit.”

Right. They collect the subscription fees a year at a time whether they sell anything or not. But they also have to deal with churn since the subscriptions are the only profit they make.

If they have decent subscriptions in July, subs can drop like a rock in February and it will not even be noticed. It is a great company, but it will never be Walmart. Ever.

Ted,
I don't expect you to understand, but there are good reasons why Costco is doing so well and Walmart is not.........and free markets don't have a lot to do with it.
Then point me to the specific regulations that make Costco pay its employees more and increase its earnings all at the same time.

If you can't, then the default answer stands: Free market working as intended.
