The US is in a totally different model which does not fit any of these economic models that so called economic experts draw up and throw it at people like MM to run with. The dollar is the reserve currency and that puts the US at a greater advantage. What concerns me is that a sizable number of the US population (luckily not the majority) believe that we need to leave money for the next generation. I would rather leave the next generation the ability to earn money (good education) and live a life in a cleaner environment. I am sure like me you are also very enthused to improving economic figures that are rolling out. Granted that the numbers are better during this time of the year every year. But this time it will be different and we will continue to move up even during the summer months (vacation time), albeit slowly. And if the Republicans in DC continue their efforts to gut this economy through their false battle cry of doom and gloom they will pay a heavy price in 2014. It is a good sign that Obama is visiting his old hangout. Yesterday was a game changer when the man who said that his goal was to make Obama a one termer said that he was happy to hear what Obama said. It is not certain if he did so because of political pressure due to his upcoming re election and the pressure from the moderate members of his party. But that Obama is producing some results by holding their feet to the fire is a good sign. I don't like the idea that Obama agreed to put Medicare and SS on the table. I hope he did so just to support his goal to close loopholes. Obama would get overwhelming support if he persists on reducing waste through closing of waste and loopholes. On another topic, you can see the hypocrisy amongst the Republicans. They switch to supporting gays when they find out that they have one in their own family. nydailynews.com I hope Scalia and those conservative justices soon find out that they have a gay member in their own family. That would be an act of God as it did with Sen. Portman and Dick Cheney. And I seriously hope and pray that happens because that is the only way they will realize the compassion we need to have with these folks and start treating them as equals. They are some of the finest people I have met.
